The Unicorn

Upon the flowing breast of Earth,
Was the place of a unicorn's birth.
Prancing through the flowers in the fields,
Hear the thundering of his heels.
Under the glistening sun was its horn,
The wonderful gold of a unicorn.

Suddenly, up grew a pair of wings,
Such two beautiful, glorious things.
It took a while, but it did try,
Before the unicorn could ever fly.
Under the glistening sun was its horn,
The beautiful gold of a unicorn.

Each day it would take its flight,
Ready to reach higher heights.
But one day a hunter heard,
Of a radiant unicorn flying as a bird.
He saw under the glistening sun was its horn,
The wonderful gold of a unicorn.

The hunter learned how much horns were worth,
And to think the unicorn had it since birth.
The hunter took his bow and arrow,
And shot through a flock of sparrows.
And under the glistening sun was its horn,
The wonderful gold of a unicorn.

The unicorn fell to the earth,
To the magical place of its birth.
And, for its final time,
Under the glistening sun was its horn,
The wonderful gold of a unicorn.
