Poem of the Month!

They will come-
They said they would.
I insisted on wearing
my best dress,
With my hair done,
and my make-up fixed.
I sat by myself in my room-
To be sure they could find me.
I flipped through albums,
How long it's been
since I've seen them.
It's midnight.
I scratch off the date,
but I do not cry-
For it was my 98th birthday
and I know they will come
