I remember one dark night
And a nightmare full of fright
I ran to your bed

Everything will be okay
Your daddy is here to stay."

Time passed and later on
I fell and scraped my arm
I started to cry
And you gave this reply:

At a time full of gloom
In an old hospital room
I began to whimper
And I heard you whisper:

I need to hug you too
Everything will be okay
Your daddy is here to stay."

Now I know just where to go
When I have a bit of woe
I'll run to you each day
Just to hear you say:
"My lap is here for you
I need to hug you too
Everything will be okay
Your daddy is here to stay."
