"Never stare at the two white lights."
A mother's warning thrown
In one ear and out the other
Playing in the forest
Discovering new things
The ground darkens and stiffens
The air is still and the wilds gain silence
Walking on the new path
Listening to strangeness in the dark
Two small white lights
Shining bright from afar
Fascinated, legs freeze
Growing larger and brighter
The lights illuminate surroundings
Ears turn at the break of silence
A blaring horn sounds
Something once told is remembered too late...
"Never stare at the two white lights!"
