The afternoon sun hit its highest peak.
Way off are a few dark storm clouds;
they swiftly roll in to seize their prey,
the lives of unrighteous men.
Thunder claps down onto the earth
forcing her flowing bosom to split;
Lightning booms and all fall to the dirt
shrieking in pain and agony.
Waves crash down on homes and people,
boulders shrink to pebbles,
pebbles grow to boulders,
mountains deflate to hills,
hills become mountains,
fields turn to jagged rocks,
families and friends are scattered abroad.
All the earth quivers and trembles
at the power of the Almighty.
Rivers of the purest water change to blood.
Hail pounds onto chest and back
leaving incredibly sharp aches.
Darkness is everywhere.
Moaning fills the murkiness surrounding life.
Four-letter words blank-out the rest of my mind:
Just when the Spirit is lost
and the body is fading into the background,
a bright pillar of light appears
radiating around a building.
The only building still standing, the temple.
Everyone capable touches the smooth, cool walls
and looks heavenward.
A personage appears.
Wrapped in cloth whiter than light itself,
the person smiles at us:
the pitiful, ragged scum of the earth,
now a crumpled mess.
Blinded by his celestial brightness,
we shield our eyes to find more
descending to us.
As I search the faces,
thousands, millions of angels
fill the sky.
Trumpets are sounding
even louder than the lightning.
The children of God
sing Hallelujah to His name.
All becomes quiet,
another comes to view.
He looks familiar...
People start to cry and surround Him.
I blink the mists from my eyes
as realization hits.
My Savior...My King...
He has come to save me.
I run to reach Him,
just to touch His robe,
He turns to stretch forth His hand
for ME to touch
and marvel at His proof.
I glance up and He reaches out
to pull ME to Him in an embracing hug.
I feel His warmth and love for ME.
He too sheds tears of joy as He releases me.
The Spirit is stronger than ever as
He heals the sick,
He blesses our children,
He welcomes all.
But I will never forget His answer to MY question
after a day of walking:
"Hate and Fear ARE four-letter words,
but so are Love and Hope."
We leave the shattered earth
and ascend to heaven
and our reunited families and friends
to live together with our Father
in happiness and peace...
