its slimy, scaly skin shines in the sun
covered with shimmery, speckled spots.
its stomach drags on the sand;
searching, seeking with its senses.
it shoots its sticky, scarlet tongue out
to savor the salty silhouette of its prey,
as it stalks its spoil.
hssssss!
it smothers its victim, swallows, and digests.
the snake slowly slithers away.
