A familiar number,
I call;
Five minutes,
You say.
I study each button
And characteristic
As I wait,
Fifteen minutes,
I return my call,
Endless ringing-
No one home.
I clutch the phone,
Watch for it to sound.
Five minutes,
You said.
No cll back- Not one.
A simple phone call
To make my day.
But five hours,
And I still hope.
When I needed you,
You left.
Will my phone ring?
Five minutes,
You say.
