Title:   Blonde Brownies

1 3/4 c whole wheat flour
2/3 c sugar- or other sweetener
1/2 c nondairy chocolate or carob chips
1/2 c chopped walnuts
1/2 t sea salt
1/2 c firm silken tofu- crumbled
1/2 c pure maple syrup
2 T organic canola or safflower oil
1 T vanilla extract
Directions:   Preheat oven to 350F. Mist an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, chocolate or carob chips, walnuts and salt. Mix with a dry wire whisk. Blend tofu, maple syrup, oil, and vanilla extract in a food processor or blender. Pour into flour mixture and stir until everything is evenly moistened. Batter will be stiff. Spoon into prepared baking pan. Bake 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool thoroughly before cutting and serving.
Makes:   12 to 16 brownies
