|Title:||MacGregor Apple Crisp or Brown Betty|
4 c tart baking apples- sliced, pared and cored
3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c flour
1/2 c rolled oats
3/4 t cinnamon
3/4 t nutmeg
1/3 c soft butter
|Directions:||Place apples in greased 8" square pan. Blend remaining ingredients until crumbly; then spread over apples. Bake at 375F for 30 to 35 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with cream, ice cream or hard sauce.
Brown Betty: Follow recipe above except place alternate layers of the sliced apples and crumb mixture in pan. Pour 1/4 c water over the top.
