Title:   MacGregor Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

2 1/2 t active dry yeast
1 c whole wheat flour
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 t baking soda
1 t salt
3 T honey
1 1/2 T vegetable oil
1 1/2 c buttermilk- at room temperature
Directions:   Combine the yeast, whole wheat flour, flour, baking soda, salt, honey, oil and buttermilk. Knead dough 10 minutes. Raise dough in covered greased bowl about 1 hour. Punch down and form into loaf; place in a greased loaf pan turning to grease top. Let rise until doubled in size. Lightly slit top down center with sharp knife. Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Cool on wire rack. Brush top with butter while hot, if desired.
Makes:   1 large loaf
