1 c butter
1/2 c sugar
1/2 t almond extract
2 c flour
|Directions:||In a mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar and continue beating just until blended. Beat in egg and almond extract. Gradually add flour to creamed mixture. Fill chilled cookie press 2/3 full. Refrigerate remaining dough until ready to refill press. Do not store dough in refrigerator since chilled dough will crumble. Use press attachments to form desired shapes onto cool baking sheets. Decorate with small candies and colored sugar. Bake in preheated 350F oven 8-10 minutes. Remove immediately to wire rack to cool.
Variation: Chocolate Spritz
After butter and sugar are blended, add 2 squares (2 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate, melted and cooled and continue with recipe above.
