48 Hershey kisses
1/2 c shortening
3/4 c peanut butter
1/3 c sugar
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 T milk
1 t vanilla extract
1 1/2 c flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt

Directions: | Heat oven to 375F. Remove wrappers from kisses. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 c sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a kiss into center of each cookie; cookies will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Variation: Peanut Butter Basket Cookies Divide dough into 60 balls instead of 48. Cut 30 bite-size peanut butter cups in half. Press cup half into cookie 1/2 inch from bottom. Cool 1 minute, then transfer to cooling rack. Decorate when cool with tinted icing [holly leaves]. |
